Acquired over many years with care and delight, Vintage by Advice from a Caterpillar is an ode to times past. Each piece reflects the enduring whimsy and beauty that embrace us in our homes and families, and remind us that quality heirloom objects are treasures to keep for a lifetime.

Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls Inc. was an iconic doll manufacturer founded in 1936 by Nancy Ann Abbott, from humble beginnings in her apartment. Over the next decades demand for the dolls grew, and Nancy Ann created a huge catalogue of different dolls inspired by nursery rhymes, fairy tales, cultures from around the world and notable periods in history. The dolls were seen as vital for morale during World War II, and were sold to soldiers in active service as gifts to send home to loved ones. Most of the dolls were made in the USA with a ceramic body, hand painted facial features and exquisitely stitched gowns and costumes.

These are fragile ceramic dolls and should be treated with utmost care. They do break easily upon dropping, so we recommend enjoying them as beautiful decor pieces instead of part of active play.

Each piece in the Vintage by Advice from a Caterpillar collection is sold in its current condition. There may be signs of prior use or wear that is natural with any antique; this is part of its beauty and soul. We therefore do not accept price negotiations as we have priced each item as fairly as we can, taking into account its condition and legacy.
