In 2007, the Oxford Junior Dictionary removed around forty common words concerning nature what were apparently no longer being used by enough children to have a place in the dictionary. These "lost" words included acorn, adder, bluebell, dandelion, fern, heron, kingfisher, newt, otter, and willow, and were replaced with indoor a virtual words, such as attachment, blog, broadband, bullet-point, cut-and-paste, and voice-mail. This book sets out to conjure back these lost words and celebrate the importance of nature.
